A rock drill is a small pneumatic/hydraulic tool used for drilling holes in rock and concrete. It operates through a combined impact and rotational force to create blast holes and anchor holes in rock formations. Often used in conjunction with pneumatic picks and air compressors, it comes in three types: handheld, air-leg, and vehicle-mounted jumbo drill rigs. It is widely applied in mining, quarrying, tunnel excavation, and infrastructure demolition and drilling operations.

The pneumatic model uses compressed air from an air compressor to drive an internal piston, which impacts the drill rod at high frequency. At the same time, a low-torque mechanism rotates the drill rod slowly, breaking the rock layer through impact, switching the chiseling point during rotation, and continuously cutting the rock mass to form a regular borehole. The hydraulic model relies on a hydraulic pump station to supply pressure oil to drive the impact structure, offering greater impact power, higher drilling efficiency, and stronger stability for deep-hole operations.
Application Fields
1. Mining: Drilling blast holes in quarries and drilling boreholes for underground roadway excavation.
2. Tunnel Engineering: Drilling anchor bolt holes for advanced support in mountain tunnels and subway tunnels.
3. Infrastructure Construction: Drilling anchor holes for slope reinforcement and rock-layer boreholes for foundation pit blasting.
4. Engineering Demolition: Drilling and demolishing concrete walls and road surfaces, and pre-opening holes for anchor bolts.
